Well done South Africa!
I'm gutted of couse, but well done to South Africa for a fabulous and very well deserved win! They came off the blocks firing on all cylinders - and we didn't! It didn't help that poor Kyle Sinckler got knocked out after just three minutes on the pitch but that's the nature of the game, and luckily he is apparently now ok. I suppose it was a lot to ask to beat Australia one week, New Zealand the next and then South Africa the following, but either way South Africa thoroughly deserved to win!
As a footnote, I guess it's a mark of how far South Africa has come in that they had their first black captain, who just happens to have a white wife! Just think how few years ago that alone would not have been possible! Progress, finally!

Progress indeed and good to see. Although gutted England didn't get to lift the trophy.ReplyDelete
Sadly today they didn't deserve to win - which is what makes rugby so great - nothing is "sure"! BUUUUUTTTT it's a young team and they will definitely go on to great(er) things, although coming second in the world cup does not exactly amount to being "rubbish" does it!Delete
I don't know or really understand rugby-sort of like I bet your friends don't know much about American football, but being a sports fan is all good fun isn't it? If people would keep thinking in terms of a game and entertainment, there would be more pleasure in it.ReplyDelete
I love rugby because it is so fast and physical BUT also because it is still FAMILY entertainment. They are not paid nearly as much as the football (soccer) players but to my mind are more entertaining and less prima donna-like. Plus supporters from both sides sit together at rugby matches, as opposed to having to be separated at a football match. It's still family entertainment and the atmosphere at a match is wonderful, as I found out when my son played for a few years (until he broke his collarbone one too many times).Delete
