I think they may have got it right!

We've just completed our second week of a four-week lockdown and I see in the news that France's R number is below one - which means the virus is in recession. From what I've heard we're still going to be obliged to stick with the lockdown for another two weeks but if that's all it takes, I'm on board. Oh I'm under no illusion that this damn virus won't come back roaring once we're all allowed out again, and I definitely get the pushback from smaller businesses that have been obliged to close. To my mind though, that is where the government steps in and helps them out. As for the rest, wear a damn mask. It's not much to ask to kill this damn thing off!

  1. And here in America we have a lameduck president who is golfing while our numbers climb higher than ever.

January 20 cannot come soon enough.

  2. Meanwhile, the man who is occupying (not for much longer!) the White House vows that under him, there will be NO lockdowns. And cases and deaths rise and rise and rise.

    1. The US death toll is over 1/4 million already. For god's sake, can we just not admit that keeping our distance and wearing masks works! How many lives do we have to sacrifice for politics?

  3. Yes, until we have a working vaccine we are going to have to endure masks and social distancing. I don't think those non-maskers how much they are slowing down the economic recovery by continually spreading the virus.

    1. It's such a small act to wear a mask and stand away from someone - why is that such a big deal?

  4. Fingers crossed we get to the end of this nightmare in the near rather than the far future! I hope the vaccine that is currently being hailed as our saviour actually works! That, of course, will be the next thing - the anti vaxers will refuse to take it!! No hope! You can't cure stupid. x

  5. The only thing he wants to do is prove he is right, that he won. There are still protests and violence because of him, but not even a tiny bit of caution. I will be wearing a mask through all of 2021, at least.

    1. Frankly he's an AH and I wonder if he ever got the damn virus anyway. I think he probably did, but then he got access to the best treatment in the world, which the rest of us won't have. May God damn him to the future he deserves!

  6. We haven't had huge numbers in my area of Essex but its a national lockdown and we have to do our part. Its no were near as strict as the first. The curve is flattening is many areas, I hope it continues. I agree wear a mask, use the sanitiser and keep your distance. Its not rocket science.

  7. I think it's just selfish not to wear a mask. It is no hardship to anyone and if we can kill this thing quicker then so much the better!

  8. I'm of the camp that he may have had the virus but got so much medical attention, pumped with meds, he mimicked recovery but mentally, he's certainly losing it. It's his grifting enablers that are just as much to blame
Good for France. I'm happy your counts are lowering.
