And here we go again!

As we suspected would happen, President Macron confirmed a new, initial, four-week lockdown starting tomorrow. From what we know so far it will be pretty similar to the previous one. We will, yet again, need a time-stamped attestation to go out; exercising allowed for only one hour a day, one time, and within 1 km of our homes (good job I went walking yesterday then); and going out for "essentials" only, although what is now considered "essential" will apparently be defined today by the Prime Minister. The difference so far this time around is that schools will remain open and people in most (essential?) industries will be allowed to continue to work. Poor André has to cross the border tomorrow to sign his divorce paperwork, and then in the afternoon he has an appointment in France at the bank. I'm assuming the court case to sign his divorce would be considered an "essential" activity, but who knows about the bank appointment. Problem is, he still has Swiss plates on his car so will almost certainly get stopped both at the border and running around here in France while trying to get his paperwork in order (which will allow him to change his plates). So I guess he should expect a bit of "hassle" in the coming days!

That being said, when he moved back into France we put my address down as his temporary home, even though he has been staying at his brother's these past few months. To me it made more sense to put my address because he spent over 20 years living in this village and they know him at the Mairie, and also because should important paperwork be delivered for the divorce or his moving into France I would be at home to receive it. So as from tonight guess who's moving in with me again - yep, AndrĂ©! That's no problem of course but it will be weird having someone live here again as I've lived on my own for over 10 years now. There will be pluses and minuses re cooking. I have missed having someone to cook for but then it's been nice being able to just throw any old thing together when I haven't felt like cooking, so we'll see how that goes. It will also be pretty "full on" as he will be working from home full-time until further notice so we'll either get pleasantly reacquainted or have each other by the throat by this time next week. I'll let you know, but if you don't hear from me between now and then it will be determined to have been the latter! So with that said, I'm off to see if I can find where I threw my bra the day after I retired! Speak soon, and stay safe - it's getting nasty out there!

    1. You too Bob. I'm sure we'll be ok this end but I think we'll all be glad when this is over won't we!

  2. I think you and he will get along well. You both seem the type that tolerate others styles, and give space when needed. I think in the for=our week lock down it would be nice to live with him. I'm so glad my son has roommates he gets along with, even if they all don't socialize in normal times. They can still share a meal, a beer, and lament together. Even when my daughter was in same town, the no mingling of households was so tough on her, that one the weather was moderately nice, she cem over and we were outside at least or met for walks.

    1. Oh he and I will be ok. He is incredibly diplomatic and as long as we don't talk politics we'll be fine. He is definitely not pro-Trump but he hates the Democrats so we will have to agree to differ. To that end I went out today and stocked up on wine so we should end up best buddies in pretty short order I reckon!

  3. What an odd world we live in. France and Germany go into lockdown and over here the ruling party doesn't care how many die.

    1. Seen from afar what is happening in the US is absolutely gob-smacking, I have to admit. The "advantage" they have over here is centralized government so what Paris decides is what happens - plus or minus a few protests. So far, from what I've seen, people are pretty philosophical about it!

  4. The worst part would be having to wear a bra! For your son? I would not wear a bra for my son, but that is me. Good luck on the latest lockdown rules.

  6. Oh I hope your poor son manages to get all his stuff done without too much hassle. England are going into lockdown but I don't think we're going into full lockdown here in Scotland yet. We are already of tier 3 anyway which I think means only the non essential shops can still stay open but we can't have people to the house which is a pain. It's looking increasingly like Christmas as we know it will be on hold this year. At least you will have your son with you which will be nice for both of you. I loved your comment about finding your bra! I know how that feels lol. x

    1. We're in full lockdown again now and I must admit I'm finding it harder this time round. I really resent having to draw up an attestation in order to go out but I guess it is what it is and we don't have much choice. And I agree, I think Christmas is not gonna happen this year is it!
