Since all my visitors have left I have got the house straightened out, done the shopping and washed and dried 11 sets of bed linen thanks to the wonderful weather we are having. It's a nice feeling to get everything done and I think I am finally learning that it is ok to just sit and do nothing - or sit and read in my case. I got all my running around done today and still had hours to sit and read in my back garden. Total bliss!

Tomorrow (14th) is Bastille Day here in France so, for the most part, the fireworks are starting off tonight so that everyone can sleep in tomorrow. In fact, they've just started now. My youngest (the newly-wed) just sent me a video of a group of about 12 friends. They had gone up the "Petit Môle" mountain to watch the fireworks. Ah how wonderful it is to be young and enthusiastic!
And Bastille Day is also my friend's birthday so I will see if he is free for a few hours so I can take a birthday present over to him. Life at the moment is very sweet!
Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, I am. I always had a problem with just sitting and doing nothing - taking "me" time if you like - but it definitely grows on you!
DeleteThat is a lot of laundry!
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of bodies, but do you know what - I enjoyed it! I used to love having a house full of kids when my kids were little and it kinda bought that feeling back!
DeleteI'm so pleased retirement is being kind to you and you are enjoying the slower, simpler pace. Happy birthday 'Dutchman'.
ReplyDeleteIt didn't start off too well with losing my brother but I have to admit that retirement is actually better than I could ever have imagined - long may it last. And thank you for stopping by my blog!
DeleteIt's nice to do 'nothing' isn't it! The house straightened, shopping done and 11 bed sets washed and dried notwithstanding!! lol. Hope your Dutchman had a nice day. It's our 43rd wedding anniversary tomorrow and tonight hubby said to me, 'we don't do anniversary cards do we?' I think he knew the answer by the look he got lol. I foresee an early morning trip to Tesco in his future lol. It's a local holiday here tomorrow so he won't even be able to go to the local gift shop to buy a 'nice' card! I won't fuss if he doesn't get one, I told him he could make one, I'm going to leave my granddaughter's crayons out before I go to bed tonight lol. I now wait with bated breath! x
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I bet you can't wait to see his homemade card (wouldn't it be nice if he made one), and congratulations on reaching 43 years (I only made 26 but that was 25 too many!!!). I didn't get to see my Dutchman in the end as he was spending time with his kids. If I remember right two of their birthdays are on either side of his (big family). Not to worry, I'll see him during the week. And yep in the end it was 12 sets of bed linen as I changed my own too. Thank God for the whirly thingy in the garden although it too finally died a death and I had to run out and buy a new one! Still it was a real pleasure to have everyone around (although the one kid that stayed the night of the wedding I'm not even sure who it was - cudda just been someone they picked up en route)!
DeleteLOL on the stray kid! One of those, do you know him, no I thought you knew him moments! x
ReplyDeleteHa I had 3 kids sleeping on mattresses/sofas in the TV room and 2 more downstairs in the living room - it was dark so not sure who one of them was but he/she left anyway so all's well!
