F"*稨èèg cold callers!
As of today I am off for four days for the long Easter weekend and have been totally looking forward to it before work shifts up a gear in the coming weeks. Last night - or more precisely at 4.40 a.m. this morning - I get a cold caller on my mobile!!! I was able to pick it up quickly as my phone is next to my bed but 4.40 am????? Nobody answered so I called back and got an answering message for "Media something or other" who are doing a survey on my media use!!!!! I have no idea how they got my mobile number - probably just random computer dialing but bloody hell! I have blocked that number in any case, which is something I can't do on my house phone (I mentioned in my last post how I got a cold caller at 11.15 pm on Tuesday night! These people are a damn pest!

They have systems that dial multiple numbers, then figure which lines answer. That causes the delay or dead silence. So annoying.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam, I usually ignore them and most often I am away at work anyway, but sometimes I pick up and stay silent or just pick up and then hang up but still they keep coming. This one last night was on my mobile phone so at least I can block that number. I tried looking up the company to make a complaint but that doesn't work either. I suppose if I want a siesta I just have to unplug the phone then. Although, there is a fabulous recording I heard of any elderly Ozzie man who kept a cold caller on the line for about 20 minutes. It was a recording and his responses were so vague that the cold caller didn't realize HE was talking to a recording. It was great. Wish I could find it and use it as my answering machine (although I would have to translate it into French I guess! I like your new picture by the way. Anna
ReplyDeleteI despise unwanted calls and if I have my glasses on and can read who it is from I will ignore them. If I don't have them on and have to guess, all bets are off and what I might "see" as someone I actually know can be anything and anyone.
ReplyDeleteI actually figured out the name of their company so I sent them a message to their website AND posted on their Facebook page. To be fair, I got an apology within 30 minutes and they said they will look into it. I don't suppose anything will change but ... I am giving some thought to getting rid of my landline because that's where I get most of the calls.
