Hi Sharon!

Sorry, I had to do that. I had told my colleague Sharon about my blog and figured she would just forget about it like everyone else but no .... she just told me she is still reading it, so I figured I owed her a wave. She is a "yam yam" like me. That means, we are both Brummies (from Birmingham, England) and tend to talk like "so how yam doin?" (If you've ever watched Peaky Blinders you'll get the accent)! I remember when Sharon joined our company actually. I was in HR and had asked her for a copy of her passport. When I saw where she was born I realized that we were born about one mile apart! Small world eh!  Anyway, see you Monday Sharon. Bon weekend!

  1. I would be the deep south version of a Brummie, however we pronounce the city Bur-min-ha-yam

    1. We say it kinda BUUURRMINGUM! Actually I think (hope) I've lost most of my accent after 40 years away. People tell me they can't tell where I come from. I asked Steve if he could tell and he said no but I do admire the actors on Peaky Blinders who can do it without being Brummies. I tried and couldn't do it any more!

    1. I haven't watched it either but it was filmed round where Sharon and I were born (the "posh" bit - hah!). When I first got to Switzerland the American boyfriend of my colleague once told me how much he LOVED my accent 'cos I sounded just like one of the Beatles! I had to smile at that one!

  3. I need to get back to Peaky Blinders - my daughter and I were watching it together so I keep waiting to watch it with her but she's never around! Kids these days. We here in Canada don't think we have accents until we talk to people from other countries (like Scotland recently) and they say "huh"?

    1. Ha, none of us think we have accents do we. The only thing I can pick out a Canadian accent (occasionally) is the "u" sound, otherwise not much good here. In the UK we have a lot of regional accents and you can pretty much pinpoint where someone is from. My favourite is Geordie (Newcastle) and a soft Scottish accent. That being said, when I was in the States I was offered every job I applied for mainly because they liked my accent (I could have been a mad axe murderer but at least I had a nice accent!)

  4. I like you doing a shout out to a reader!
I recently commented on a blog by a new blogger (who was emailing people with the link and asking them to read) and he couldn't be bothered replying to me. You know who I wont be reading again!

    1. Hi Kylie well I guess sometimes life gets busy so I can't always reply to everyone. But I read everything. And Sharon is g buddy/friend so I had better move on that one.

  5. Been thinking about you, wondering if you have retired yet? Inquiring minds want to know!

    1. That's very sweet of you to think of me. In fact that's the reason I haven't been posting. So darn busy trying to get everything finished at work, the administrative formalities for retirement and so on, but tomorrow is my last day and it can't come fast enough, although I suspect I shall be a little weepy!
