I didn't get to watch all of the platinum jubilee celebrations but what I did see was wonderful - and even the ubiquitous British weather cooperated. I can only think Adam Lambert has nerves of steel to pull off a performance in front of that crowd (and the guy didn't even win American Idol????)! Still, it's a once in a lifetime event - or not even that since she was only 26 when she ascended to the throne. Not likely to happen again is it. Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years so now they've got 70 years to beat. Just a shame Freddy M didn't live to see it!
I watched some of the performers and the Queen with the Paddington Bear. They sure put on a great show. I think you're right. Not easy to beat 70 years on the British throne.
ReplyDeleteApparently the Queen has a great sense of humour. It's just a shame it took so long to show it!
DeleteHe is one of the most successful AI competitors - maybe even more so than Kelly Clarkson. Good on him and Queen for making music together!
ReplyDeleteI remember watching him on American Idol and he can sing ANYTHING. So while AI is probably a good trampoline for your career I think real talent can't be held back. He's a real showman!
DeleteI saw bits and pieces, really liked tea with Paddington Bear. Over here there was a lot of very good-natured chatter about Prince Louis, and I don't doubt for a second that he stole a lot of American hearts with his 'princely' behavior.
ReplyDeleteI liked the Paddington Bear sketch too. As for the kiddos, I think William and Kate are very down to earth and are doing a good job!
DeleteHe should have won American Idol, I agree :).
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe he DIDN'T win it. Still, he hasn't done so bad for himself has he!
DeleteI truly admire the Queen's many, many years of service and dedication to her nation.
ReplyDeleteShe has been absolutely rock solid - a hard act to follow!
DeleteI've watched snippets here and there. Many American Idol winners did little with their careers and some non winners are doing phenomenally well.
ReplyDeleteWell he has done really well for himself hasn't he - and deservedly so!
