They did it!

We've had crap weather ever since I got back from Sri Lanka - yesterday was just awful and apparently tomorrow doesn't look much better. Buuuuuttt the heavens decided to cooperate today and it was glorious sunshine and "no coat" weather, just in time for the civil wedding. Yep, son number two is now officially hitched. It was very informal, with the Maire making it a nice, funny service and in about 15 minutes they were married! After that it was back to mom's house for a rather nice tartiflette (mom) and rather good cookies, shortbread and fruit salad (me and my friend). All in all a lovely, informal wedding. At least they are married before Brexit so that's a positive! Now we get to look forward to the big party in July.  Congratulations Jordan and Jen!

    1. Thanks Sluggie, it was very informal - but that's just how I like it (and obviously they do too). Lovely day all round!

  3. Lovey couple! Congratulations to both of them! Informal is great and so easy on everyone. Food from home is a fantastic touch I think.

    1. Our wedding was very informal too (just us two and two witnesses). Of course July will be the party and more formal but I just don't see spending thousands and thousands of dollars/pounds/euros on one day when it could be put to better use - and luckily they seem to agree!

    1. Thanks a lot - it was lovely actually. It had snowed the day before so we had the sun on the snow in the mountains in the backdrop. And since Marcellaz where they live is very small it really was a very intimate wedding!

  5. How lovely! I love the simple, informal weddings. More intimate and personal than those mega-£/$ ones. But to each their own, too. Looks like you had perfect weather too. Congratulations! x

    1. I agree with you. A mega wedding would stress me out but like you say, each to his own!

  6. So happy the weather cooperated! I just don't get spending a lot of money on a wedding Enough for a nice wedding, yes, but to spend thousands of dollars on a dress? Nope.

    1. It was very nice and I agree nobody needs to spend thousands on a wedding. They will obviously be spending more in July for the big do but not ridiculous amounts. Seems to me the more you spend the more likely you are to end up separating (but that's a very unscientific fact, of course)!

  7. Congrats to you and your growing family. What a shame informal weddings don't become the rage. No muss, no fuss, a couple of words, a couple of signatures and they're done.

    1. I agree absolutely. They are having the big party in July but again not over the top. I had a simple wedding too as that is what I wanted but a couple of weeks later I went to another family wedding and all I can remember from that wedding was the 2 foot long feather attached to the pen they signed the register with. Plus the rehearsal dinner, plus 25 bridesmaids and groomsmen, plus, plus, plus. It obviously suits some (but in my mind that's a great way to add more stress - I mean what if the feather was the wrong length), but it would never suit me and I'm glad my kids feel the same!
