My biggest worry when having a mammogram is they get you all set up and then fire alarm goes - while your boob is still stuck in the "panini machine"!Treadershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08613671137557939083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-32582420710193551352020-10-15T21:39:49.204+01:002020-10-15T21:39:49.204+01:00Hope your cheery self picks up soon but we all nee...Hope your cheery self picks up soon but we all need some down time now and again. Was laughing to myself about your mammogram experience because I've just had mine. Here on the NHS they are three yearly and of course it was delayed because of Covid. No luxury clinic for me: just a mobile caravan in a carpark and it took 9 days to receive the result! It's sad but what can you do. And yes I'm looking forward to spending time with the baby when it gets here. Your grandbaby is lucky to have you (and I'm sure you consider yourself lucky to have him). Both of my parents died in February and I've come to hate February because of that.

I'm glad you'll get to spend time with your grandchild. We have ours a bit too much right now, 2-3 days a week overnight but hopefully things will get better. It was pneumonia that took him in the end - a big strapping man like that. So yep I think you're right. It's so much worse when it is unexpected. I guess that's what nearly killed my brother when his wife was taken ill and died within 24 hours (she had a stroke). Still, life goes on doesn't it, and you're right about not volunteering too much with the grandchildren. I feel very strongly that having worked my entire life now is MY time to enjoy FINALLY (but I'm pretty sure I'll be gaga anyway). And again you're right that they are NOT our children so you have to respect their parents' ways of doing things. Still, we're not there yet are we!Treadershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08613671137557939083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-55009812287099027362020-10-13T19:19:07.096+01:002020-10-13T19:19:07.096+01:00It doesn't seem like a year since you told us ...It doesn't seem like a year since you told us about Steve's death. Some people we miss so much, I think when its unexpected its somehow worse too.
I loved that reply to the dick pic guy. I mean I kinda get teenagers sending them, but grown men?? Surely not!!
It will be wonderful having your half day baby sitting. I loved it when mine were small. Just be careful not to volunteer for too much though, I found it very very tiring looking after the grandchildren. I think with your own you are more relaxed and know the things they can do and can't do, with the grandkids you are much more nervous in case they hurt themselves or whatever and therefore you end up watching them like a hawk and wear yourself out! I found two days a week to be perfect, best of both worlds. I could spoil and cuddle my grandkids all I liked then hand them over to mum and dad and walk away! Brilliant!! You'll love it! xxMarksgranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02870471905590321642noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-45298491747633428242020-10-13T19:02:31.339+01:002020-10-13T19:02:31.339+01:00I'm thrilled that I'm going to be such a c...I'm thrilled that I'm going to be such a close part of the baby's life too, especially since my parents had to deal with my brother's kids being in North Wales, my sister's kids being in Denmark and my kids being in the US and/or Switzerland/France. We were a very close family but it wasn't the same as having grown up all together though. That being said, my friend's kids grew up in France (her mom was in England) and grandma once commented that she saw more of the French grandkids than she did of those that lived just down the road. My ex-MIL pretty much said the same thing too AND when my kids are with the more distant family they have fun and enjoy being all together, so I guess there are advantages too. And yep, Steve's death has continued to bother me and I still think about him often. It's so sad to have a great future behind you!Treadershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08613671137557939083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-71699610463874629712020-10-13T17:27:20.310+01:002020-10-13T17:27:20.310+01:00I love that you will be a part of the baby's l...I love that you will be a part of the baby's life and care. You love your grands like you love you own kids, but it is even stronger because all you have to do is love them. You don't have to be the responsible parent! Oddly enough, I tend to think about my brother too pretty much every night when I get into bed to read. He loved reading - until his wife died suddenly - and then he didn't any more. And while I know I will love this baby "to the moon and back", I'm still intrigued to find out what exactly that feels like!Treadershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08613671137557939083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-8778684541700676182020-10-13T15:59:40.701+01:002020-10-13T15:59:40.701+01:00Oh I know it's easy to get the blues with ever...Oh I know it's easy to get the blues with everything that's going on but I usually get over it pretty quickly too.
