I got stuck on a speed bump once (seriously) but I think you're right, I will definitely give it a shot even if it means shoving my bike into my car and driving down to the lake. I like the 10,000 steps business and while I have heard of the 5:2 I haven't tried it. Maybe I will try to combine it with what I am already doing. The stupid thing is, I really don't mind the cold (I'm a Brit) so going out when it's freezing isn't a problem for me - I'm a bit of a snowflake in the heat though! Can't win can you!Treadershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08613671137557939083noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4674486998769998428.post-81331070672987722472017-02-25T18:30:40.955+00:002017-02-25T18:30:40.955+00:00Like you I always was slim before the dreaded meno...Like you I always was slim before the dreaded menopause. For a couple of years I did the 10k steps a day, didn't lose anything, just maintained my weight. However, why really changed for me was combining the food changes with getting a bike. The bike improved my core strength and slimmed down my legs. I try and cycle 3 days a week, but even though it has been too cold to go out past 4 months I have not gained back the weight. I find that carbs are my enemy. Eat a baguette and I can gain 3 lbs overnight. I agree, life is not about measuring what you eat every day for the rest of your life. Have you tried the 5:2 diet? I did it a couple of weeks and it did work for me. I'd lose a pound each time I did the day of 500 calories and it did not go back on when I returned to normal eating. From always being slim menopause weight gain came as a bit of a shock but I think you're right. 1 or 2 lbs a month will have to do it (although 40 lb before my son's wedding in July would be better!!!) I also don't believe in fad diets where you lose quickly but sadly seem to put it straight back on when you stop. Besides, life is too short to never have an ice cream! I will give some thought to eating my main meal at lunchtime - thanks for the tip - I eat late because of getting home so late. I'll let you know how it goes. (Well done on your weight loss BTW)! I've managed to lose 16 lbs since last May. It has been a slow journey but as long as the scales move in the right direction don't fret. 1-2 lbs a month is good. Biggest key for me was changing when I ate what. I always eat breakfast, try and have my main meal at lunchtime then eat light at night.
